The story of the game is made up in a fractional history of the real-world events which stick to the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins and Templars all along. Assassins fight for peace with free will and the Templars perceive peace through control . The story is staged in the 18th century, before, during and after the American Revolution from 1754 to 1783.

The game also add on a multiplayer module, which allows all the players, who are on every part of the world to compete this game online along with completing solo and team-based objectives including assassinations and evading pursuers. The game received huge positive critics for the game play , visualizations and Combat style. Later, In September 2018, a remastered edition of Assassin's Creed III was announced. The remastered edition has a enhanced visuals, lighting, and resolution, expanded character models, and much more modified game mechanics, with all the previously-released downloadable content also included.
